The Otter Creek boat ramp in Sudbury provides access to Vermont's largest river that flows entirely within state borders. This launch point gives paddlers and boaters access to approximately 104 miles of paddleable water on the 112-mile Otter Creek. The ramp is located in Rutland County and benefits from the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department's ongoing efforts to expand and improve public access along the river.
Paddlers should note that Otter Creek supports a variety of recreational activities, including fishing and recreational boating. The area is part of the Otter Creek Wildlife Management Area, which provides additional outdoor opportunities. For extended trips, two nearby campgrounds—Moosalamoo Campground and Silver Lake Campground—are available within 10 miles and offer reservable sites. Before launching, check current water conditions and any specific guidelines from the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department, as water levels and flow can vary seasonally.
