Oxbow Lake Wildlife Area

Oxbow Lake Wildlife Area offers a public boat ramp for paddlers and boaters looking to access Mud Creek in northwestern Ohio. Located 5 miles northwest of Defiance via State Route 15 at Schick Road, the site features dedicated facilities including a boat launching ramp, two parking lots adjacent to Oxbow Lake, drinking water, and restroom facilities. The area is well-suited for anglers and recreational boaters targeting largemouth bass, bluegill, green sunfish, and bullhead.

**Important Navigation Note:** The Oxbow Bridge to the north of the boat ramp was destroyed by fire and is impassable. Do not travel north from the ramp. Plan your paddling route accordingly and stay south of this point. The wildlife area also includes unpaved paths and a dog training area, making it a multi-use recreation site. Whether you're launching a canoe, kayak, or motorized boat, this is a convenient public access point with full amenities for a day of paddling or fishing.
