About This Access Site
The Palix River boat ramp is a Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife facility located just south of the Bay Center turnoff on U.S. Route 101 in Pacific County, approximately 5 miles southwest of South Bend. This is the primary access point for exploring the upper Palix River and is open year-round. The site includes a single parking lot, though ADA parking is not available.

From this launch, paddlers and boaters can access miles of meandering river channels that wind through scenic meadows and wetlands rich with wildlife viewing opportunities. The location also provides access to the Palix Unit of the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge. Nearby, the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters offers additional amenities including restroom facilities, maps, and access to the Nasell River and the southern end of Willapa Bay for those interested in exploring beyond the Palix River itself.

This site is best suited for hand-launched kayaks and canoes or small motorized vessels. Paddlers should note that there are no designated fishing platforms or hand launch facilities at this specific ramp, so plan accordingly for your vessel type and launch method.
