**Practical Information for Paddlers**
This is a U.S. Customs port of entry, so be prepared for potential inspections if crossing international waters into Canada. Public water access is typically available 24 hours unless posted otherwise. The Rainy River offers excellent fishing opportunities, with walleye season extending into April. For overnight trips, Voyageurs National Park camping permits are available within 10 miles and can be reserved in advance. The site is best suited for motorboats and larger recreational vessels, though the carry-in option works well for canoeists and kayakers launching directly from shore.
