Pawtuxet Village Park offers a substantial boat ramp providing direct access to Pawtuxet Cove at the head of the Providence River, near where the Pawtuxet River empties into the cove. This is the primary launch point for the area, and paddlers should note that the boat ramp is the only reasonable place to launch at this site. Parking is available on nearby Broad Street rather than directly at the ramp itself.
The protected waters of Pawtuxet Cove offer sheltered paddling, making it suitable for kayakers and canoeists of varying skill levels. An extensive breakwater creates a large, calm area ideal for less experienced paddlers. If river conditions prevent returning upriver, an alternative take-out point is available at the Aspray Boat House ramp, also within Pawtuxet Village Park. The location provides convenient access to the Providence River system and proximity to the Narragansett Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve for those interested in exploring the wider estuary.
