About This Access Site
Paxson Lake offers a convenient boat ramp access point for paddlers, anglers, and boaters. Located at mile 175 on the Richardson Highway, the Paxson Lake Campground provides a boat launch along the shore of the lake. The campground has 45 sites, including 2 accessible sites and 5 walk-in sites near the water.

The boat ramp allows easy access to launch canoes, kayaks, and small motorized boats onto Paxson Lake. The lake is a popular destination for fishing, with visitors reporting success catching trout and other species from the shore as well as by boat. For those interested in exploring the broader waterways, the boat ramp also provides a starting point to float the main branch of the nearby Gulkana Wild and Scenic River. Campers can enjoy easy access to the lake for swimming, boating, and other water-based activities during their stay at the campground.
