About This Access Site
Located on Verona Island in Hancock County, the Verona Park boat ramp provides convenient access to the lower reaches of the historic Penobscot River. This dedicated ramp serves as an excellent put-in point for paddlers exploring both upstream and downstream sections of the river. From here, you can paddle upstream toward the river's confluence with the Seboeis River, or downstream toward Whetstone Falls and the main stem of the Penobscot beyond.

The site offers practical amenities including a designated parking lot and vault toilet facilities located across Seboeis Road. Plan to unload gear near the boat ramp before parking your vehicle. The surrounding green space provides scenic shoreline views and pleasant areas for picnicking or relaxing before or after your paddle.

The Penobscot River offers a diverse mix of flatwater and whitewater paddling opportunities with numerous access points, making this location ideal for day trips as well as launches for longer expeditions. Check river conditions and difficulty ratings for your intended route before heading out, as conditions vary significantly depending on which section you plan to paddle.
