About This Access Site
Perkins Peninsula Park is a convenient day-use access point located right off Highway 126 in Veneta, offering an easy boat ramp launch onto Fern Ridge Lake. The park features ample parking, restrooms, picnic tables, a swim bay, and a dock. This is an ideal spot for kayakers and canoeists looking to explore the lower Coyote Creek drainage, particularly during spring and summer when water levels support paddling through the scenic Fern Ridge Wildlife Area.

From the ramp, paddlers head east along a canal toward the Coyote Creek inlet, following calm waters that eventually wind northwest back toward the main reservoir. The lower creek segment is a broad, peaceful waterway that offers an excellent escape for paddling, even though Highway 126 remains audible nearby. The route is well-suited for recreational kayaking and canoeing, with minimal current and wildlife viewing opportunities. Richardson Campground is available within 10 miles for those planning overnight trips in the area.
