About This Access Site
The S.W. Taylor Ramp provides convenient access to Pickwick Lake, the northern terminus of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway in northeast Mississippi. This location offers paddlers and boaters a gateway to one of the region's most significant navigable waterways, featuring calm, broad open water ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and recreational boating. The lake's protected coves and extensive shoreline make it suitable for paddlers of various skill levels.

From this northern access point, boaters can explore southward along the 85-mile Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway toward Alabama, which includes the Canal Section with five locks and dams. The waterway is well-developed for boating with multiple marinas and ramps throughout the system. Pickwick Lake itself is popular for fishing tournaments and recreational activities, so expect moderate to busy conditions, especially on weekends. Nearby recreation includes Shiloh National Military Park, making the area attractive for both water-based and land-based exploration.
