About This Access Site
The Pineville access point on the Elk River offers a free public boat launch located at 100 Conservation Lane (off Rhine Street) in Pineville, McDonald County. This facility, which opened in spring 2010, includes a boat ramp, public bathrooms, and parking—making it a convenient put-in spot for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The site is well-maintained and popular with local paddlers and tourists exploring this scenic southwestern Missouri river.

The Elk River at Pineville is a substantial waterway—a large stream (USGS stream order 6) with an average flow of approximately 2,758 cubic feet per second and an average velocity of 4.17 feet per second. The river features a moderate gradient of about 12 feet per mile, which generally indicates steady current without extreme whitewater. With 175 miles of river extending upstream and a total elevation drop of 2,100 feet across the system, paddlers launching here have access to diverse paddling opportunities depending on water conditions and distance traveled.
