Piney Point Recreation Area

Piney Point Recreation Area offers a convenient double boat ramp with pier access on the St. Marys River near the St. Georges Island Bridge. The facility includes 34 parking spaces and is suitable for launching larger vessels. There is no launch fee. The site provides access to St. Georges Creek and the broader St. Marys River system, with easy paddling routes to the Potomac River. Several dining and scenic options are nearby, including Ruddy Duck Seafood and Alehouse and the Piney Point Lighthouse Museum, both accessible by boat.

The ramp is located off Route 249 in Piney County, Maryland, making it easily accessible by vehicle. Paddlers and boaters should note that landings are closed between sunset and sunrise except for loading and unloading boats. Be mindful not to block ramps, parked vehicles, bulkheads, or pier access when launching or landing. The proximity to three nearby islands and the connection to the Potomac River makes this a good base for exploring the region's waterways.
