Poe Springs Park offers convenient public boat access to the Santa Fe River via a dedicated ramp located on the northeast side of the US 27 bridge. The launch provides easy access to this popular paddling destination, which is conveniently situated near Gainesville and High Springs in Alachua County. The park serves as a gateway to one of Florida's most scenic spring-fed river systems, featuring several major springs including Poe, Lily, Jonathan, Rum, and Gilchrist Blue springs.
Paddlers should be aware that this is a heavily used access point, especially on weekends; visiting on weekdays is recommended to avoid crowds. Water levels can affect navigability below the US 27 Bridge—when gauge levels fall below 31.5 feet, shallow spots may require portaging or pushing your boat for short distances. The Santa Fe River through this section features naturally shallow water in many areas, making it well-suited for families with children and beginning paddlers. Camping is permitted on Suwannee River Water Management District property on the west bank between Ginnie Springs and the SR 47 Bridge for those planning extended trips.
