About This Access Site
The Pollocksville Waterfront Park offers convenient public access to the Trent River via a dedicated NC Wildlife boat ramp and kayak launch. Located in Jones County along Highway 17, this facility features two boat ramps, good parking, lighting, a fishing pier, and a covered picnic shelter—making it a solid base for paddlers and motorboaters alike. The ramp is maintained by North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and is free and open 24 hours.

The Trent River at this location is a large, slow-moving waterway (Stream Order 6) with an average flow of 707 cubic feet per second and gentle gradient of 1.7 feet/mile, making it well-suited for recreational paddling and fishing. From Pollocksville, paddlers can explore upstream toward New Bern or downstream toward the Neuse River confluence. The water is reported to be generally clean and clear. Motorboaters can expect the trip to the Neuse River to take approximately 45 minutes in a 25 HP boat, making this an excellent launching point for both day trips and longer expeditions in eastern North Carolina's Coastal Plain.
