**Location & Access:** Poosey Ridge is a public boat ramp on the Kentucky River near Richmond in Madison County. To reach it, take KY 52 southwest of Richmond, then turn right on Highway 1295 toward Kirksville, and follow KY 595 to the river. The ramp accommodates light trailerable and recreational boats.
**Paddling Opportunities:** This ramp serves as an excellent put-in or take-out point for float trips on the Kentucky River. Paddlers commonly use Poosey Ridge as a take-out for approximately 8-mile floats from upstream put-ins like Hunters Ferry. The area is particularly notable for access to Paint Lick Creek, which enters the Kentucky River just upstream on the Garrard County side. Paint Lick Creek is known as one of central Kentucky's more productive spotted bass streams and offers an excellent side-trip for kayakers and canoeists.
**Nearby Attractions:** The ramp is conveniently located near Camp Nelson National Monument, a historic Civil War-era site that operated as a major Union Army supply depot and recruitment center. This makes Poosey Ridge a good base for combining paddling with historical exploration of the region.
