About This Access Site
Located in Lake City, Missaukee County, the Poplar Street access site offers a concrete boat ramp for launching onto Crooked Lake. This developed DNR facility includes a vault toilet and provides straightforward access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The site is closed between 11:00 pm and 4:00 am, and swimming, wading, and bathing are not permitted.

Crooked Lake is an excellent destination for exploring connecting waterways, particularly the scenic "Black Hole" channel that links Pickerel and Crooked Lakes. The ramp's location also positions paddlers well for accessing the Crooked River mouth across the lake, making it a versatile starting point for various paddling routes. The surrounding watershed features flat-to-gently-rolling terrain with sandy soils, typical of Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula. Nearby recreation opportunities include access to the Huron-Manistee National Forests.
