**Location & Access:** Poppin Rock is a developed boat ramp providing access to Cave Run Lake in Rowan County, Kentucky. Located off KY 519 south of Morehead, the ramp is easily accessible from I-64 (exit 137). The site includes parking and basic launching facilities for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats.
**Lake Character & Recreation:** Cave Run Lake is a large 8,270-acre reservoir surrounded by the Daniel Boone National Forest, offering scenic paddling opportunities in a forested setting. The lake provides excellent recreational fishing once you're on the water. Note that fishing is not permitted directly from the boat ramp itself, and swimming or sunbathing within 100 feet of the launch area is prohibited. **A fee pass is required to use this ramp.**
**Nearby Resources:** Three reservable campgrounds operate within 10 miles—Claylick Boat-In Campground, Boat Gunnel Group Campground, and Twin Knobs Campground—making Poppin Rock an excellent base for multi-day paddling trips on Cave Run Lake. Cave Run Lake has 12 total boat ramps, giving paddlers multiple launch and take-out options for planning extended routes.
