**Location & Access:** Port Clyde Harbor offers a free public boat launch ramp located next to the town dock in St. George, Maine. The site is accessible via Route 131 South, which extends 14 miles down the peninsula from Thomaston. The launch provides convenient access to this working harbor and the surrounding coastal waters.
**Conditions & Navigation:** This is an active commercial harbor, home to a significant lobster and fishing fleet as well as the Monhegan Ferry service, so expect moderate to heavy boat traffic, particularly during ferry operations. Several entry routes are available depending on your approach: from the south, follow the Monhegan ferry route between Allen and Burnt Islands; from the east via Muscle Ridge Channel or Tenants Harbor, approach from Mosquito Island. Exercise caution with buoys and navigate carefully through the marked channels. Note that the harbor is open to the south and southwest, making it uncomfortable in winds from those directions.
**Services & Nearby Recreation:** The Port Clyde General Store & Marina nearby offers fuel, provisions, ice, and transient mooring information (daytime tie-ups permitted at harbor floats; overnight moorings available by arrangement). Marshall Point Light is located about a mile from the village and offers a scenic historical site. Franklin Island National Wildlife Refuge with its 1808 lighthouse is also in the area, providing additional exploration opportunities for paddlers and boaters.
