Located in Fairmont at the confluence of Prickett's Creek and the Monongahela River, this 188-acre state park offers convenient access to the scenic Opekiska Pool section of the Mon River. The dedicated boat launch with trailer parking makes it ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and powerboaters heading upstream or downstream. The river winds through the beautiful West Virginia mountains in this area, providing varied paddling conditions.
Beyond the water, Pricketts Fort State Park provides excellent amenities for a full day outing, including public restrooms, picnic areas, and nature trails. The park also serves as a trailhead for the Mon River Trail (heading toward Morgantown) and the MCPARC trail to Fairmont. History enthusiasts will appreciate the reconstructed 18th-century frontier fort and visitor center on site. The location is strategically positioned between Tygart Dam upstream and other access points, making it a good hub for multi-day paddling trips on the Monongahela River system.
