About This Access Site
Lionhead offers a convenient boat ramp and day-use area at the north end of scenic Priest Lake in northern Idaho. The site features an ADA-accessible boat ramp, gravel parking lot, and sandy beach suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. This location is particularly popular with paddlers due to its proximity to the Thorofare, a scenic two-mile water route connecting to the remote Upper Priest Lake—accessible only by water, foot, or mountain bike.

The area includes camping facilities, a boat dock, and excellent swimming beaches. Paddlers should note that the access road to the campground is narrow, with RVs longer than 25 feet not recommended. Day-use visitors will find the parking and ramp area generally accessible with good facilities. Lionhead serves as an ideal jumping-off point for exploring both the main lake and venturing into the quieter Upper Priest Lake via the Thorofare, making it a premier destination for paddlers seeking both developed amenities and remote paddling opportunities.
