Be aware that Lake Tapps experiences significant seasonal changes. Water levels drop 5–10 feet from late October through late April, and motorboat access is unavailable during these winter months—making it ideal for paddlers during the off-season. The lake has submerged stumps and hazards in some areas, so exercise caution, especially when unfamiliar with the water. Road access to the area is limited, so plan accordingly.
