The Quemado Lake Boat Launch is a small public boat ramp located at the western end of Quemado Lake in Catron County, New Mexico. This access point is specifically designated for non-motorized boats and electric motor vessels, making it ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and paddle sports enthusiasts. The launch provides straightforward access to the 112-acre lake and Largo Creek, situated within the scenic Apache National Forest on the Colorado Plateau.
To reach the launch, turn left at the signed entrance onto NM 103 and travel 4 miles until you reach Forest Road 13 (a gravel road). The lake offers a variety of recreational opportunities, and a designated canoe and kayak launch area is available if you prefer launching from a more specialized paddle-focused location. For those planning an extended trip, Juniper Campground and Pinon Campground are both located at the lake and offer reservable sites with amenities like vault toilets, picnic areas, and easy water access—making them convenient bases for paddling adventures.
