Located at the end of West Beach Road in Charlestown, the Quonochontaug Breachway boat ramp provides access to both Quonochontaug Pond and Block Island Sound. This is an excellent launch point for kayakers and canoeists looking to explore a large salt pond with numerous coves and channels. The protected waters of the pond make it suitable for paddlers of various skill levels seeking sheltered paddling opportunities.
**Important Note:** The boat ramp is currently undergoing construction with restricted access beginning February 14. Check current conditions before visiting, as West Beach Road access will be limited during construction hours. Boaters with motors should exercise caution on the water. The site's proximity to Trustom Pond National Wildlife Refuge and Block Island National Wildlife Refuge (approximately 12 miles offshore) makes this an ideal base for exploring the South Shore's natural areas and wildlife habitats.
