Raccoon State Recreation Area offers boat access to Cecil M. Harden Lake, a scenic impoundment surrounded by mature forest in Parke County. This access point is one of five boat ramps available around the lake, making it a convenient launching spot for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. An entrance fee applies to the recreation area ($5 for in-state vehicles, $7 for out-of-state), and the facility is day-use only with no reservations required.
The lake is well-suited for paddling and offers multiple scenic viewpoints, including Miami Vista, She-Qui-Oh Vista, and several overlooks along the shoreline. A moderate 1.5-mile trail from the main boat ramp circles the south shore of the peninsula, providing paddlers with a reference point for lake navigation. The area is particularly beautiful during fall, coinciding with Parke County's famous Covered Bridge Festival in October. Boat rentals are available at the recreation area if you need equipment.
