This access point provides straightforward entry to Rainy Lake, which is known for its exceptional water quality and minimal aquatic invasive species presence—making it an "outstanding natural resource" for paddlers and boaters. The site includes amenities such as seasonal restrooms, drinking water, trash receptacles, and an AIS boat wash station to help protect the lake's pristine conditions.

Rainy Lake is a substantial border water body shared with Canada, offering diverse paddling and boating opportunities across its expansive surface. The Rainier ramp is well-positioned for exploring the lake's southwest section and provides access to a region with excellent fishing and scenic paddling. For extended trips or camping, Voyageurs National Park offers reservable camping permits nearby, making this an ideal base for multi-day paddling adventures.
