Rat Branch Boat Launch is a popular, year-round access point located just east of Hampton in Carter County, offering convenient public access to Watauga Lake in the Cherokee National Forest. The facility is non-reservable and ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters of all skill levels. A fishing pier is available on-site, making it a versatile destination for both paddling and angling. Day-use permits are required; be aware that alcohol is prohibited at the facility.
The launch provides easy water access to Watauga Lake, a scenic reservoir nestled in the Appalachian Mountains of the Blue Ridge region.
