About This Access Site
The Rice Creek access site in Manitowish Waters provides launch access to a scenic headwater stream in northern Wisconsin. Rice Creek is a medium-sized river (Stream Order 5) spanning 28.71 miles with a moderate gradient of 3.4 ft/mile and average flow of 53.66 cubic feet per second. The creek drops approximately 98 feet over its length, creating varied paddling conditions depending on water levels and which section you explore.

**Access & Paddling Notes:** This site is best suited for canoeists and kayakers, as motorboats are prohibited. The ramp is located off Round Lake Road north of Boulder Junction (approximately 4.3 miles west on County K, then 2.3 miles north on Bear Lake Road, then 1.2 miles north on Round Lake Road from the County M/K intersection). Paddlers should be prepared for flowing water with an average velocity of 1.68 feet/second. Difficulty varies by section and water level—scout conditions beforehand and check for any portage requirements or barriers.

**Nearby Resources:** Moosehead Lake Camp (reservable) is available within 10 miles of the access point. For additional information on water conditions, barriers, and detailed route planning, consult the Wisconsin DNR's comprehensive boat access database at dnr.wi.gov/topic/Lands/boataccess/.
