Rocky Point Recreation Area provides a well-maintained boat launch on Alder Lake (Nisqually River reservoir) in Pierce County. The facility offers essential amenities including a good-quality boat ramp, restrooms, and potable water. A Discover Pass is required for parking. The boat launch is usable when the reservoir is at higher elevations, so water levels can affect accessibility during lower seasons.
Alder Lake is a popular destination for a variety of paddlers and boaters. The lake supports fishing for largemouth bass, rainbow trout, and cutthroat trout, with particularly good fishing at the lake's west end. In spring, rainbow trout can be caught from shore between Elbe and Rocky Point. The area also accommodates water skiing and swimming. Note that Rocky Point is a more basic recreation site compared to nearby Alder Lake Park's main campgrounds—there are no shower facilities or playgrounds—but it remains a practical access point for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats.
**Access:** Located near Alder, WA. From I-5, take Exit 114 (Nisqually). A Discover Pass is required for parking on-site. Check current water levels and seasonal conditions before visiting, as the boat ramp usability depends on reservoir elevation.
