**Overview & Access**
West Rolling Hills Boat Ramp provides free public access to Milford Lake, Kansas's largest man-made lake with 15,700 acres of surface area and 163 miles of shoreline. Located just 15 minutes west of Junction City near the Republican River's impoundment, this day-use area is easily reached via I-70 (exit 295), then north on Highway 57. Day-use passes can be purchased online through Recreation.gov in advance or at the site.

**Water Conditions & Recreation**
Milford Lake is a large, stable water body fed by the Republican River—a Class 7 stream with an average flow of 1,048 cubic feet per second. The lake offers excellent conditions for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats, with a designated swim beach and protected public lands surrounding the 33,000-acre area. Beyond paddling, the site supports fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, and bird watching. Facilities include multiple picnic shelters (reservable), vault toilets, and grills.

Additional services and recreation are available at the Thunderbird Marina on Milford Lake, while the Milford Education Center and Fish Hatchery are located below the dam. The area's expansive public lands make it ideal for day trips or extended outdoor exploration.

Each shelter has a vault toilet and grill available for use and several of the shelters have playgrounds, horseshoe pits and sand volleyball courts nearby. The park offers a full size basketball court as well. Natural Features

Milford Lake is also the home of the states third largest wetland and is known for a variety of wildlife.
Nearby Attractions
The Milford Nature Center and Fish Hatchery is nearby just below the dam. There you can find live animal exhibits as well as learn about the ecosystems of Kansas. A golf course is adjacent to the nature center on the north end of the Dam and the town of Junction City is approximately five miles from North Overlook Shelter.
