Located in the Tonto Basin near the eastern end of Roosevelt Lake where the Salt River enters, this boat ramp provides convenient access to the lake's eastern waters. The site features a large concrete boat ramp, ample parking, and restroom facilities, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. The area is less crowded than some alternative launch sites around the lake, making it an attractive option for those seeking a more peaceful paddling experience.
Roosevelt Lake is formed on the Salt River, a major river system with significant flow and gradient. Paddlers should be aware that the Salt River averages 1,291 cubic feet per second with an average velocity of 6.95 feet/second and a 17 ft/mile gradient, indicating moderate to strong current conditions, particularly near where the river enters the lake. Water conditions can vary seasonally and after dam releases, so check current conditions before launching.
Several campgrounds are available within 10 miles, including Burnt Corral, Frazier Group, and Cholla Campgrounds (all reservable). Roosevelt Marina nearby offers additional services and information. The area also provides access to nearby recreation, including Tonto National Monument with its historic cliff dwellings. For current conditions, services, and any specific launch details, contact the Tonto Basin Ranger District office or Roosevelt Marina at 928/467-2245.
