Ross's Landing is a well-developed public boat ramp located in downtown Chattanooga at 201 Riverfront Parkway, providing convenient access to Nickajack Lake on the Tennessee River. The site offers a full range of amenities including an accessible boat ramp, dock/pier, restrooms, picnic tables, benches, and a playground. The location is pet-friendly and wheelchair accessible, making it suitable for a variety of users.
The Tennessee River at this location is a major waterway (stream order 9) with significant flow averaging nearly 70,000 cubic feet per second. Paddlers should be prepared for a wide, deep river with moderate current. The water level is controlled by Nickajack Dam approximately 9 miles downstream, so conditions can fluctuate based on dam operations. This is an ideal launch point for longer paddling trips, as several other boat ramps are available within 10 miles for trip planning and shuttle opportunities.
The landing's downtown location near Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park makes it an excellent starting point for exploring the local area. Nearby camping is available at Chickamauga Battlefield Group Campground (reservable). Check with local authorities or TVA for current water level conditions and any seasonal access restrictions before your visit.
