About This Access Site
Rough Canyon offers a well-maintained concrete boat ramp on the north side of Amistad Reservoir, approximately 20 miles northeast of Del Rio. The ramp is a long, steep four-lane concrete structure that remains usable at most lake levels year-round, with an alternative gravel bank launch available when water levels drop below the bridge. The facility is located at the end of Recreation Road 2 (off US-277 North), just past the adjacent Rough Canyon Campground.

The area provides basic camping and day-use facilities, including four primitive campsites with covered picnic tables and grills at the nearby campground. Note that there are no drinking water hookups or restroom facilities at the ramp itself, though a comfort station with running water is available at the campground. A ranger station is staffed intermittently, and a camp host may be present in winter months. For more information, contact the facility at (830) 775-7491.

This location serves as a good access point to Amistad Reservoir, an international water body offering extensive paddling and boating opportunities. Paddlers should be prepared for desert conditions and plan accordingly, as services are limited in the surrounding area.
