About This Access Site
Rum River South County Park is the southernmost public access point on the Rum River in Anoka County, located at 3000 Ferry Street N in Anoka. The park offers dedicated launches for canoes and kayaks, as well as a boat ramp for motorized vessels. It's conveniently situated adjacent to the Anoka County Fairgrounds and features amenities including picnic areas, a playground, and walking/biking trails.

The Rum River in this section is characterized by a gentle gradient of approximately 1 foot per mile, making it suitable for paddlers of varying skill levels. This location serves as an excellent starting point for downstream floats—paddlers commonly use it as part of longer trips heading north toward other county parks. **Note:** This section of the river is known to contain zebra mussels, so clean your equipment accordingly before and after use.

The park is centrally located and easily accessible from MN 47 at 142nd Street N.W. and N.W. Waco Street. A limited fishing area is available adjacent to the boat ramp, and the scenic river offers opportunities for paddling, fishing, and day-use recreation.
