About This Access Site
Sacajawea State Park in Pasco offers two boat ramps and 200 feet of dock space for access to Lake Wallula and the lower Snake River. This is a well-developed launch facility ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats, with 70 feet of moorage available. The park operates on a first-come, first-served basis for its primitive boater campsite, making it convenient for overnight trips on the Northwest Discovery Water Trail.

Beyond paddling, the site provides excellent recreational opportunities including fishing, swimming, water skiing, and wildlife viewing. The park features interpretive displays about the Lewis and Clark expedition and Native American history, with the Sacajawea Interpretive Center offering interactive exhibits about the Corps of Discovery and local Sahaptin-speaking tribes. Additional amenities include horseshoe pits, a volleyball field, and bird watching opportunities—particularly rewarding given the park's proximity to McNary National Wildlife Refuge.

The location sits at the confluence of the Snake and Columbia Rivers in a historically significant area. Paddlers should be aware this is a reservoir environment (Lake Wallula), so conditions differ from free-flowing river sections. The area's calm waters and developed facilities make it suitable for various skill levels, from leisurely day trips to multi-day paddling expeditions.
