Salmon Harbor - West Basin

Salmon Harbor's West Basin provides excellent access to Winchester Bay and the lower Umpqua River area, located just a mile from where the river meets the Pacific Ocean. The facility features two dedicated boat launch ramps, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and larger vessels. A full-service fuel dock at the west end offers non-ethanol premium fuel, and the harbor provides comprehensive amenities including 550 moorage slips, docks with shore power and water access, hot showers, and a dedicated crabbing dock for those interested in fishing and crabbing opportunities.

This is an excellent base for both day trips and extended water adventures. Nearby camping options include three reservable campgrounds within 10 miles—Tahkenitch, Umpqua Sand, and Spinreel Sand Camping—plus the Winchester Bay RV Resort nearby for those seeking full hookups. The harbor's proximity to the river mouth makes it ideal for anglers and crabbers, while paddlers can explore the protected waters of Winchester Bay or venture upstream into the Umpqua River system.
