This freshwater access point opens up excellent fishing opportunities on the Calcasieu River and its West Fork, with bass and panfish commonly caught in the area. Paddlers can explore the scenic river environment, including cypress trees and expansive wetland vegetation. Recent removal of boating restrictions north of the barrier has expanded access for recreation upriver toward the parish line and English Bayou.
