About This Access Site
San Augustine Park provides a four-lane boat ramp on Sam Rayburn Reservoir's Ayish Bayou tributary, accessible from Pineland via FM 83 west and FM 1751 south (approximately 10 miles total). The ramp accommodates all boat types and is managed by the U.S. Forest Service and San Augustine County. The 114,000-acre reservoir offers excellent conditions for kayaking, canoeing, and motorboating, with ample open water and protected bayou paddling opportunities.

The park is a full-service facility with 100 campsites (electric and water hookups available), a designated swim beach (seasonal), picnic areas, and an interpretive trail. Anglers will find largemouth bass, bluegill, and channel catfish throughout the lake. Spring birding is exceptional as neotropical migrants pass through on their way to the Gulf. **Important note:** Water levels can fluctuate seasonally and affect ramp usability—contact the park at 409-384-5716 to confirm current conditions before your trip, especially during dry periods.
