Sandy Point in Beverly offers a sandy beach launch area with convenient access to Beverly Harbor and surrounding paddling destinations. Located at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Water Street, this small public beach provides a good starting point for kayakers and canoeists exploring the local area. Note that there is no lifeguard on duty, and swimmers should exercise caution due to nearby boat traffic and an active boat launch facility.
Paddlers launching from Sandy Point have several excellent route options. Easterly paddles along Dane Street Beach and Lynch Park offer scenic coastal exploration, while more adventurous paddlers can reach Manchester-by-the-Sea and Misery Islands. The site also provides access across Beverly Harbor to Salem Willows and Winter Island Park, though paddlers should be aware that crossing the harbor channel requires navigating busy boat traffic entering Beverly Harbor and the Danvers River.
The adjacent marina facility supports boating with 22 launching ramps and six finger piers available for temporary day-use docking on a first-come, first-served basis. A pump-out station operates April through October. No parking is permitted on the ramp itself, and overnight docking is not available. The area supports fishing for striped bass, bluefish, cod, and flounder.
