About This Access Site
Sandy Point State Park offers excellent access to the Chesapeake Bay with exceptional launching facilities. The park features **22 concrete boat ramps with adjacent finger piers**, located directly next to the parking lot for convenient loading and unloading. This substantial infrastructure makes it an ideal launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats heading onto the Bay. The facility is open 7 a.m. to dusk year-round, though hours may vary seasonally.

Located at the western terminus of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on U.S. Route 50/301 (exit 32), this 786-acre state park sits along the northwestern shore of the Chesapeake Bay—the largest estuary in the United States. The calm, protected waters near the ramp are suitable for paddlers of varying skill levels, making it a great base for exploring the Bay. The park also offers swimming beaches, picnic areas, fishing, and crabbing opportunities.

For current fees, hours, and facility details, contact the park at **410-974-2149** or visit the Maryland State Parks website. Parking is available adjacent to the ramp facilities, making this a user-friendly access point for day trips on the Chesapeake Bay.
