Sanford Recreation Area provides boat ramp access to the Canadian River near Fritch in the Texas Panhandle. This is one of several public launch points in the area serving paddlers and boaters on the Canadian River. The facility includes a designated boat ramp and basic amenities such as picnic tables, shaded shelters, and grills, with potable water available on-site.
When using this access point, stick to the established boat ramp and designated paths—do not blaze your own trails to the water. Note that a boat ramp permit does not authorize access to other gates or areas of the property. As with other launches on the Canadian River system, be aware that debris can accumulate in the water, particularly after flooding events upstream. This ramp is one of five public launch options in the region, including Harbor Bay, Fritch Fortress, Blue West, and Cedar Canyon, giving you flexibility in choosing your put-in or take-out point.
