The State Bridge Boat Launch provides hard-surface ramp access to Lower Saranac Lake, located on Route 3 approximately 3.5 miles southwest of the village of Saranac Lake. This DEC-operated facility offers convenient put-in access to the lake and connects paddlers to the Saranac Lake Island Campground & Day Use Area. Kayakers and canoeists should note that there is designated non-motorized access available, with a beach area to the right of the motorboat ramp recommended for paddle craft launches.
Lower Saranac Lake accommodates all types of motorized and non-motorized boats, though some restrictions may apply. Paddlers have several options in the area: the downtown Saranac Lake ramp on Route 86 offers alternative access, while outfitters like Regis Canoe Outfitters provide day packages and shuttle services. For multi-day trips, the nearby island campground offers backcountry camping opportunities. Check current DEC regulations before visiting, as access policies and restrictions may vary seasonally.
