The Sargent Road Bridge access point provides a convenient put-in for paddling the Pecatonica River in southwestern Wisconsin. This location serves as the starting point for a 4.6-mile paddle downstream to Highway D/N, offering paddlers a scenic section that flows partly through a State Natural Area with views of valley ridges. The access is situated near South Wayne in Lafayette County, making it accessible for day trips and longer multi-segment paddles.
From Sargent Road, paddlers can extend their journey downstream to the Browntown boat ramp (Highway 11), which is approximately 8.8 miles further and features a concrete ramp with ample off-road parking. This configuration makes the Pecatonica River accessible for various trip lengths and skill levels. No fees are charged for use of public access points on the Pecatonica River. For additional information on conditions, parking details, and facilities at this specific access site, contact the Wisconsin DNR or check their comprehensive boat access database.
