School Section Lake is a 211-acre recreational lake in Kimball, Stearns County, offering public boat access via a recently upgraded concrete ramp with an improved pier. The lake has a maximum depth of 14 feet and is suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats up to approximately 12-18 feet. The access site includes parking and is located near a beach area, making it convenient for day trips and water recreation.
The lake is largely developed with residential properties along the shoreline, though wetland areas remain in spots. The relatively shallow maximum depth and modest size make it well-suited for paddlers and recreational boaters. Wildlife viewing opportunities are available, including loons and great blue herons. There are no launch fees at this access point unless a vehicle permit is required. The recently replaced ramp and reinforced pier infrastructure ensure reliable and safe launching conditions.
