Shawnee Mac Lakes Conservation Area offers a convenient public access point to Ziske Lake, a 30-acre impoundment ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. The site features two boat ramps suitable for launching small watercraft, making it an excellent choice for paddlers of all skill levels. The lake's modest size makes it manageable for beginners while still providing a pleasant paddling experience.
The conservation area is well-developed with amenities including primitive camping, picnic areas, a pavilion, and privies. In addition to water access, the site features a 1.5-mile hard-packed gravel trail around Ziske Lake, offering scenic hiking opportunities through forest and grassland habitat. An adjacent 17-acre lake (Turner Lake) with its own boat ramp and 1-mile trail provides additional exploration options within the same preserve.
**Getting There:** From Sunrise Beach, take Highway 5 south, then Route F approximately 1 mile, followed by Route TT northeast about 2.3 miles to the access area, located at the 10.90-mile mark of the Osage Arm of the Lake of the Ozarks region.
