Shawnee State Park Marina in Scioto County offers a well-developed public access point to the Ohio River via Briery Branch. The facility features a two-lane public boat ramp with adjacent parking, plus a full-service marina with 72 docks (including transient slips), gas and diesel fuel, and an ADA courtesy slip for easy loading and unloading. This is an excellent launching point for paddlers and boaters heading onto the Greenup Pool, a 9-foot-deep navigation channel that extends 61.8 miles upstream to Gallipolis Locks and Dam.
In addition to river access, Shawnee State Park provides multiple paddling options within the park itself. Roosevelt and Turkey Creek lakes (68 acres combined) each have their own launch ramps with more restrictive motorboat rules—hand-powered and electric-only boats on Roosevelt Lake, and gas motors at idle speed on Turkey Creek Lake. Kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards can be rented seasonally (May through October) from the camp store. For facility inquiries, contact the marina directly at (740) 858-6652 or call the park at (740) 858-4561 for rental information.
