Shell Point Public Boat Ramp

Shell Point offers a well-equipped public access point to Apalachee Bay near Crawfordville in Wakulla County. The facility features a double-wide launching lane, courtesy docks, and dedicated kayak launch area, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and larger boats. With 21 trailer parking spaces and portable restrooms on-site, the ramp provides basic amenities for day-use access.

The surrounding Shell Point recreational area includes additional facilities such as restrooms with showers, picnic pavilions (available for reservation), a playground, and volleyball court. This makes it a good option for group outings or family paddling trips. Paddlers should note that a boat launch permit (daily or annual) is required for access. The site provides convenient water access to Apalachee Bay, Oyster Bay, and surrounding coastal waters—ideal for saltwater paddling, fishing, and exploration of nearby areas like the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge.
