Shelltown

The Shelltown boat ramp provides direct water access to the Pocomoke River in Marion Station, Somerset County. This modest facility features a single launching lane, courtesy dock, and parking for approximately 12 boat trailers. It's an ideal starting point for exploring the lower Pocomoke River, which widens considerably as it approaches the Chesapeake Bay, offering relatively calm, protected paddling conditions. The ramp is managed by the Somerset County Roads Department.

The Pocomoke River stretches roughly 66 miles from southern Delaware through southeastern Maryland, with the lower section near Shelltown characterized by tidal influence and wetland habitat. Paddlers can expect slower-moving, scenic water through salt marshes and cypress swamps typical of this Chesapeake Bay tributary. If you're seeking a larger facility with more amenities, Shad Landing (Pocomoke River State Park) is located upstream and offers two launching lanes, courtesy docks, and restroom facilities along with expanded parking.
