Shelter Bay

Shelter Bay offers a concrete boat ramp providing convenient access to the protected waters of Shelter Bay in La Conner. The ramp is located on the west side adjacent to Shelter Bay Marina, which provides additional amenities including fuel, pump-out facilities, and slip services with electricity and water. **Note: Access requires purchasing a key from the marina office to unlock the chain at the ramp.**

This location serves as an excellent departure point for paddlers and boaters seeking access to the broader Swinomish Channel and Salish Sea region. From here, you can easily reach popular destinations including Bellingham, Anacortes, the San Juan Islands, and Canadian Gulf Islands. The nearby Padilla Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve offers scenic paddling through extensive seagrass meadows, tidal flats, and sloughs, while Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve provides additional exploration opportunities. The calm, protected waters make this a suitable launch for kayaks and canoes, as well as motorized vessels.
