From Nixa, take Highway 14 west, then Route M south for 4 miles, and Shelvin Rock Road west for 2 miles. The 20-acre facility features two parking lots and a boat ramp providing direct access to the James River.
**River Character & Paddling:** The James River at this location is a large, relatively stable waterway (Stream Order 7) with an average flow of 668 cubic feet per second and gentle gradient of approximately 1 foot per mile. Paddlers can expect tranquil waters interspersed with small rapids typical of the Ozark region, making this stretch suitable for both canoeists and kayakers of varying skill levels. This access point serves as a key launch site for exploring the scenic middle James River, known for natural beauty and moderate adventure paddling.
**Facilities & Regulations:** The site is open for day use only—no camping is permitted. Two parking areas accommodate vehicle and trailer parking. This is an ideal launch point for day trips and multi-day excursions to downstream access points such as Hooten Town Access.
