About This Access Site
Silver Lake is a 550-acre water supply lake in Highland, Madison County, offering a concrete boat ramp located in Silver Lake Park at 3035 Highland Park Road. The ramp provides access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The lake's shoreline features rock, woody structure, and aquatic plants, creating diverse paddling and fishing conditions. Kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards are no longer required to be registered in Illinois, making this an accessible option for paddlers.

Silver Lake Park offers several amenities to support your visit, including restrooms, a playground, and a 4.5-mile hiking trail. The park also features an 18-hole disc golf course and four reservable pavilions. If you're interested in boat storage, the Silver Lake Marina has 11 private EZ-Dock boat slips available for both residents and non-residents. Permits can be purchased at Highland City Hall (Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm) or the Highland Police Department (weekends and holidays).
