The Soda Lake Wildlife Management Area offers a public boat launch providing convenient access to the upper end of Twelvemile Bayou near Mooringsport. The ramp is located on the south side of LA Highway 169 with a dedicated parking area, making it easy to locate and use for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. This access point allows paddlers to explore the bayou system and enjoy fishing opportunities in the surrounding area.
Twelvemile Bayou is part of the Red River waterway system, located approximately 6 miles downstream of the Caddo Lake Dam and 14 miles upstream of downtown Shreveport. The Wildlife Management Area itself is accessible primarily by boat or walk-in/ATV, preserving the natural character of the landscape. Paddlers should note that much of the WMA's northern and southern sections are remote and best explored by water. This is a good launching point for those seeking to paddle in a less developed natural setting while still having reliable access to parking and boat launch facilities.
